NYPAY and Consult Hyperion are Pleased to Announce the 6th Annual NYC Tomorrow’s Transactions Unconference
The Unconference event is a unique mix of thought-leadership talks and open-space discussions on topics chosen by the attendees on the day. We don’t know what they will choose but we expect the topics covered to include social and financial inclusion, blockchain, mobile financial services, data security, cryptocurrencies, and much more.
Speakers listed below will lead discussion sessions.
Attendees may join in any, all, or none of the discussions. The points raised in the discussions will be captured and shared with everyone in attendance.

David G.W Birch is an author, advisor and commentator on digital financial services. He is a Director of Consult Hyperion (the secure electronic transactions consultancy that he helped to found), Technology Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation (the London-based think tank) and a Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey Business School. His book “Before Babylon, Beyond Bitcoin: From money we understand to money that understands us” was published in June 2017. The London Review of Books called his previous book, “Identity is the New Money”, fresh, original, wide-ranging and “the best book on general issues around new forms of money”.
Melanie Shapiro is co-founder and CEO of Token, a biometric identity ring that gives users a simple and secure replacement for keys, cards, and passwords. Prior to Token, Melanie co-founded Digsby, a messaging platform for managing online social identities, which was acquired in 2011. She has a BFA in Design from RIT, and a PhD in Consumer Behavior where her thesis focused on her work studying community-engagement behavior at Microsoft. Melanie is passionate about building an experience layer for cryptography that enables users to protect and have sovereign control of their identities.
Brett King is a futurist, an Amazon bestselling author, an award winning speaker, hosts a globally recognized radio show, and is the CEO of Moven, He advised the Obama administration on the Future of Banking, and has spoken on the future in 50 countries in the last 3 years.
Brett focuses on how technology is disrupting business, changing behaviour and influencing society. He has fronted TED conferences, given opening keynotes for Wired, Singularity University’s Exponential Finance, The Economist, SIBOS and many more. He appears as a commentator on CNBC and has appeared regularly on the likes of BBC, ABC, FOX, Bloomberg and more.
Director of Research, Cornerstone Advsiors
Ron Shevlin leads research at Cornerstone Advisors including the Cornerstone Performance Report and the Insight Vault. Cited often in the industry press, Ron is the author of Smarter Bank and a regular contributor to both GonzoBanker and Snarketing. He is a nationally sought after speaker, including Financial Brand Forum, Banking Growth Forum, BAI and American Banker events. Ron’s prior experience includes research and consulting for Aite Group, Forrester, and KPMG. He is a graduate of the University of Texas and SUNY Binghamton. He stays Gonzo through a love of family and the Grateful Dead.
